Led by Wichita trumpeter, vocalist, and percussionist Josué Estrada, the band brings a sound Estrada describes as “psychedelic Chicano jazz”. It’s a vibrant blend of modern jazz, Latin fusion, bolero influences, soulful improvisation, and the musical traditions that have shaped Estrada throughout his life.

A first-generation Mexican American artist born to immigrant parents, Estrada’s musical roots run deep. His earliest influences came from growing up in a Hispanic church, followed by formal jazz training in college and years of performing and touring. His musical journey has included work with Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy, the bossa nova-surfpunk project Bellafonte, and Soul R. System with Rudy Love, Jr.

Now, The Josué Estrada Band brings those influences together into something entirely its own. Expect expressive horns, fiery trumpet, intricate percussion, infectious Latin rhythms, adventurous improvisation, original compositions, and reimagined classics. This is music built to move, whether you’re planted near the stage soaking up every note or letting the rhythm pull you onto the dance!
