WSU Commercial Music Ensembles - Walker’s @ Works

Join us for a special night of WSU Student performances. Three student commercial music ensembles will perform Sunday, November 8 at 7:30 PM at Somewhere Works.

Located at 235 N. Emporia. Designated free parking on the north side.

The concert spans funk, soul, classic rock, alternative, grunge, pop, and indie music.

Funk and soul selections include Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” and “I Wish,” Michael Jackson’s “Rock with You,” Bill Withers’ “Use Me,” and Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.”

Rock and alternative selections include Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” Stone Temple Pilots’ “Interstate Love Song,” Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun,” Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” and Foo Fighters’ “Everlong.”

Additional selections include Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie,” Men I Trust’s “Show Me How,” John Mayer’s “Vultures,” Julia Wolf’s “In My Room,” Steely Dan’s “Peg,” Michael Sembello’s “Maniac,” and No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak.”

All three groups feature live rhythm sections, with combinations of vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, and saxophones. The ensembles range from an intimate four-piece group to larger bands featuring multiple vocalists, saxophonists, and rotating drummers.

Audiences can expect familiar songs reinterpreted by emerging musicians, with each ensemble bringing a distinct sound and stage presence.
